Answer
Everything the platform creates, your transcript, blog articles, podcast audio, video clips, and social posts, comes from one single source recording. What is not in that recording cannot be created from it. This guide helps you get that foundation right, so every piece of content that follows is as strong as possible.
Video Quality
Record at a minimum of 1080p. If your device supports 4K, use it. Shoot at 25 or 30 frames per second, which is the sweet spot for talking-head content and makes processing smoother. If your camera records in HDR or HLG, that is fine too. The platform converts it to standard color automatically, so you do not need to change any settings.
Audio: Your Most Important Input
All text-based content, including your transcript, blog, and social captions, is built from your audio. Keep your microphone within 40 centimeters of your mouth. A lavalier (clip-on) mic or a USB microphone will always outperform your camera's built-in mic, even an inexpensive one. Prioritize audio above everything else.
Lighting
Place your light source in front of you, never behind you. A window behind you creates backlight that darkens your face and makes it harder for the camera to read you clearly, even if it looks fine to your own eye. Face the light.
Framing and Eye Position
Position your eyes roughly one-third from the top of the frame, not in the center, not too low. On the Teleprompter page in your dashboard, you can enable a grid overlay that shows this line exactly. Switch it on before you start so you can frame yourself correctly while you record.
Recording Length and Structure
The ideal recording length is 8 to 15 minutes. Under 5 minutes, there is simply not enough material for the platform to create a strong set of clips. Aim to cover one clear point per recording, and anchor it with something concrete: a name, a place, an amount, or a date. These specifics are what make great quotes and clips.
Two small habits that make a big difference:
- Leave a half-second of silence before your key sentence. It gives the content engine a clean starting point.
- When you feel a filler word coming, breathe in instead. A brief breath pause looks calm on camera and is much easier to edit out than "uhm" or "so."
Before You Start: The Teleprompter Pre-Flight Check
Open the Teleprompter page in your dashboard before recording. A live check runs automatically and shows whether your microphone level and lighting are in order. You will also find a "Create Brief" button that writes a short recording brief for you based on your brand profile, with a suggested topic and tone. No more starting with a blank page.
After You Upload: Your Source Report
Once you upload your recording and the platform has processed it, a source report appears on the upload page. It scores your recording on audio level, background noise, speaking pace, filler words, resolution, and duration. Next to each measurement you will find one concrete action to take into your next recording, so you improve with every session. The report also shows your clip harvest: the video clips and scroll-stoppers the platform pulled from your recording.
Tips
- Record one topic per session. Focused recordings produce sharper clips and cleaner blog posts.
- Use the grid overlay every time, even when you think you have the framing memorized.
- A cheap clip-on microphone from a hardware store is a genuine upgrade over any built-in camera mic.
- Check your source report after every upload and pick just one action to work on next time. Small, consistent improvements add up fast.
