Changing the slug of a blog post or podcast episode

Last updated March 4, 2026

Answer

When you change the slug (URL path) of a published blog post or podcast episode, a 301 redirect is automatically created from the old to the new URL. This ensures existing links keep working and preserves your SEO ranking and AI discoverability.

How it works

  1. Open a published blog post or podcast episode in the editor
  2. Change the slug field
  3. An amber warning about the SEO impact will appear
  4. Save. The 301 redirect is created automatically

Tips

  • Only change slugs when truly necessary. Each change affects your discoverability
  • The automatic redirect only applies to published content. No redirect is created for drafts
  • Redirects appear on your Redirect Links page (Dashboard > My Website > Redirect Links) with source "slug_change"
  • Cross-links between blog and podcast are updated automatically, regardless of slug changes
