What does the legal region do?
Your legal region automatically determines which legal pages and elements appear on your website:
- EU/EEA: Imprint, right of withdrawal, full cookie opt-in, double opt-in required
- United Kingdom: Trader identity, right of withdrawal, simplified cookies, double opt-in required
- Canada: CASL cookie consent, double opt-in required, no imprint
- United States: Do Not Sell link (CCPA), no imprint, no DOI requirement
- Australia: No additional legal pages, no DOI requirement
Setting your region
- Go to Settings in your dashboard
- Scroll to the "Legal region" section
- Click the card for your region
- The change is saved immediately
The system automatically suggests a region based on your business address.
Using overrides
Operating internationally? You can override individual compliance elements independently of your chosen region.
Below the region cards you will find 6 override buttons:
- Imprint - show or hide your imprint page
- Right of withdrawal - show or hide the withdrawal page
- Do Not Sell (CCPA) - show or hide the CCPA page
- Cookie consent - show or hide the cookie banner
- Double opt-in - enable or disable the DOI requirement for email list sign-ups
Each button has three states:
- Default (grey) - follows your region setting
- On (green) - always active, regardless of region
- Off (red) - never active, regardless of region
Click a button to cycle through the states.
Double opt-in per region
DOI is no longer a module toggle but is region-driven:
| Region | DOI default | |--------|-------------| | EU/EEA | Required | | UK | Required | | Canada | Required | | US | Not required | | Australia | Not required |
Want to override it? Use the Double opt-in override in the Legal region section.
Example
Your business is in the EU but you also serve US customers. Set your region to EU and toggle the Do Not Sell override to "On". You will then get both the EU imprint and the CCPA Do Not Sell page.
