How to use the Lead Engine timeline and notes

Last updated March 30, 2026

Answer

Every lead in your pipeline has a full contact history built right in. Open any lead card to see the detail panel, where the Timeline and Notes tabs give you a complete picture of every interaction and conversation.

Viewing the Timeline

The Timeline tab is your single source of truth for everything that has happened with a contact. Here is how to access it:

  1. Open your Lead Engine pipeline.
  2. Click on any lead card to open the detail panel.
  3. Select the Timeline tab.

You will see all interactions listed in chronological order, including:

  • Emails: sent, delivered, opened, clicked, or bounced
  • Quotes: with their current status and payment status
  • Notes: any notes you or your team have added

This makes it easy to spot where a conversation stalled, whether a quote was viewed, or whether a follow-up email landed in the inbox.

Adding Notes

The Notes tab lets you add free-text notes to any contact, perfect for logging call summaries, meeting outcomes, or next steps.

  1. Open the lead card and select the Notes tab.
  2. Type your note in the text field.
  3. Save the note to attach it to this contact.

Your notes also appear in the Timeline, so everything stays in one place.

Tracking time in stage

At the bottom of the detail panel you will always see two useful pieces of information:

  • How many days the lead has been in its current stage
  • When the lead card was originally created

This helps you prioritize follow-ups and spot leads that may need a nudge before they go cold.

Tips

  • Use notes right after a call while the details are fresh. Even a short summary saves a lot of time later.
  • Check the Timeline before reaching out to a lead. Knowing whether they opened your last email or viewed a quote helps you tailor your message.
  • The days-in-stage counter is a great signal for your weekly pipeline review. Leads sitting too long in one stage often just need one action to move forward.
