Managing cohorts

Last updated March 30, 2026

Answer

With cohorts you group students who start a course at the same time. Useful if you want to offer live group programs or a fixed start date instead of rolling enrollment.

Creating a cohort

  1. Go to a course and open Cohorts.
  2. Click New Cohort.
  3. Give the cohort a name (optional), a start date, and optionally a maximum number of participants.
  4. Click Save.

Cohort status

A cohort goes through four phases:

  • Open (blue): enrollments are possible.
  • Active (green): the course has started, enrollments are closed.
  • Completed (gray): the course has ended.
  • Archived: no longer visible in the overview.

Use the menu (three dots) to change the status.

Viewing participants

Click on a cohort to see participants with their progress, streak, and last active date.

Tips

  • A maximum size is useful if you offer personal guidance and want to limit the number of participants.
  • The average progress at the top of the participant panel gives you a quick overview of how the group is doing.
