Answer
With cohorts you group students who start a course at the same time. Useful if you want to offer live group programs or a fixed start date instead of rolling enrollment.
Creating a cohort
- Go to a course and open Cohorts.
- Click New Cohort.
- Give the cohort a name (optional), a start date, and optionally a maximum number of participants.
- Click Save.
Cohort status
A cohort goes through four phases:
- Open (blue): enrollments are possible.
- Active (green): the course has started, enrollments are closed.
- Completed (gray): the course has ended.
- Archived: no longer visible in the overview.
Use the menu (three dots) to change the status.
Viewing participants
Click on a cohort to see participants with their progress, streak, and last active date.
Tips
- A maximum size is useful if you offer personal guidance and want to limit the number of participants.
- The average progress at the top of the participant panel gives you a quick overview of how the group is doing.
