Community access control: make your community members-only

Last updated March 30, 2026

Public or members only

By default your community is public: anyone can read and post replies. You can restrict it so only members have access.

Go to Community > Settings (gear icon) and under Access control choose "Members only".

Managing members

On the Members tab of your Community page you can:

  • Add members by email address (the person must have an account)
  • Revoke access per member (the member record remains but they can no longer participate)
  • Reactivate previously revoked members

Automatic access

With "Members only" you can set rules so buyers automatically become members:

  • On any course purchase or on a specific course
  • On any active membership or on a specific membership

When a membership is canceled or a course enrollment is revoked, community access is automatically revoked.

What do non-members see?

Non-members can see the discussion topics but cannot read the replies. They are invited to log in or become a member.
