AI Doesn't Know You Exist (And It's Costing You Clients)

AI won't recommend you to potential clients if it doesn't know who you are, what you do, and which problems you solve.

March 3, 202612 min

Key takeaways

  • Treat AI as a fixer: ask it to solve problems for you daily, and you will quickly discover how capable it already is and how fast it is improving.
  • Position yourself for AI recommendation: your potential clients are already asking ChatGPT and Grok for service provider suggestions, and if AI doesn't know you, it recommends someone else.
Fragmented identity kills authority: inconsistent information across AI tools means no AI model can confidently place you as the expert in your niche.
  • One video, ten outputs: a structured identity engine turns a single video into a full content ecosystem across every channel, in your voice, automatically.
  • Own your domain: social media and Google are becoming secondary as clients move to direct AI-to-domain discovery. Your domain must be rich, structured, and AI-readable now.

    Show notes

Why AI Not Knowing You Is a Two-Part Problem

AI can't recommend you to potential clients if it doesn't know you exist. But it goes deeper than that. Even if you've interacted with AI tools before, the information you've shared is fragmented and inconsistent. That means AI can't position you as an authority in your niche.

    • Clients used to ask neighbors, then Google, now they ask AI directly
    • AI tools like ChatGPT, Grok, and Gemini are already being used to find service providers
    • Google's own results are now led by AI overviews (Gemini), so even search is AI-first
    • Fragmented identity data means AI places you nowhere

Start Using AI as a Fixer, Not Just a Search Engine

The fastest mindset shift you can make: treat AI as a fixer, not an answering machine. When you approach it with problems to solve rather than questions to answer, you start discovering what it can actually do for you today, and it grows more capable every three months.

    • Ask AI "can you fix this for me?" instead of just asking for information
    • Work with AI daily to understand its expanding capabilities
    • Use it collaboratively to build systems around your identity

How Identity First Media Builds Your Intelligent Layer

Identity First Media solves the visibility problem with an identity engine built on 137 components that work together to understand who you are, not just what you produce. The intake takes 60 to 90 minutes and extracts your tone of voice, ideal customer profile, and core identity. From a single video input, the system generates a full content ecosystem: podcast episodes, blog articles, LinkedIn and Instagram posts, YouTube descriptions, email sequences, and short-form clips.

    • 137 components work together, not linearly, to create a structured identity layer
    • One video becomes 10 or more pieces of content in your authentic voice
    • Rich, structured content helps AI models find you and direct clients to your domain
    • Your domain becomes the destination, bypassing Google and social media entirely

What You Can Do Right Now

If you want to handle this yourself, create detailed text files about your identity, tone of voice, and ideal client inside your preferred AI tool (Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, or similar). Keep it consistent. Volume matters, but consistency matters more.

If you want to see how readable your website is to AI systems right now, scan your domain at identityfirstmedia.com/scanner. You get a PDF report showing exactly what needs to improve for AI to understand and recommend you.

AI doesn't know you. And that's a problem in two ways. To be honest, I thought AI is not alive yet. But then I was watching a movie and suddenly somebody stopped breathing. So there was a device that puts life into that person.
    0:22
And I was like, Okay, AI is not alive yet, but it's already an organism. And we all, the whole world is putting life into it. So for me, AI can be seen already as a living organism because we use it. And because we use it, it's alive. And like I said, AI doesn't know you.
    0:51
And that's a two way problem. The first one is if you're an entrepreneur, you need to be known by AI. The same thing that in the past you had to be known by Google and before that you had to be known by TV commercials or newspapers to get customers. And that's a really big problem in this moment and an opportunity as well, because you can be the early adapter still, because a lot of entrepreneurs are using AI, but they talk to AI and they get answers back. That's how most people use AI.
    1:38
And still a lot of people are not using AI on a daily basis yet. And there is another group who uses AI to fix things for them. And that's really one thing you have to do. If I can give you one tip in advance. Start using AI as if it is fixer for you, as if it fixes things.
    2:08
Because when you have the mindset that AI fixes things for you, you can ask it, can you fix this for me? And then when it can fix something, some things for you, you will be amazed because I on a daily basis ask it while making things. I ask AI, can you do it for me? And then sometimes it says yes while I was thinking it could not do it yet. Or it says yes, if you do this for me.
    2:40
And that's amazing because you start working together with AI. And because of that, it starts to be a fixer for you as well. And you start to understand what AI can do. And if you use it daily, you can see a change. It can do more nowadays.
    3:00
It can do more than one year ago. And in three months from now, can do much more than it can do today. So that's one one thing. But now, Okay, it doesn't know you. And for entrepreneurs, that's a problem in two ways.
    3:17
First of all, if somebody, your potential customer is somewhere and your potential customer has a problem, in the past it asks the neighbor. Then it started to ask Google or even Facebook or TikTok to find a solution. But now it will ask AI. Hey, CetGPT, Grok, can you give me a solution for this? Or do you know someone who can give me that solution?
    3:52
So as an entrepreneur, you must be known by AI so it can tell your potential customer, hey, you have to be the solution for your problem. You have to call Peter or you have to call Linda. It has to know you. So you have to give it a lot of information about you so it starts to get to know you, who you are and which problems you solve. And if it knows that, it can direct customers to you.
    4:22
That's amazing. But the second part is even important because a lot of entrepreneurs are talking with AI and they are sometimes storing information into AI, but it's all shattered information. And today an entrepreneur says, no, I am like this. And the other day they are telling AI, Okay, now I'm like that. So AI really doesn't know who you are as an entrepreneur.
    4:56
For that point, it's really difficult to point customers to you. Therefore, it's really important that it starts to getting know who you really are. And it has to know which problems you solve. And then if you solve these two things, you can use AI in a much greater way. It can direct customers to you and it can create things for you on your own domain.
    5:28
So a lot of AI models can get to know you really better, in a better way. So we, with Identity First Media, we build both. We build like the intelligent layer that starts to getting to know you. And this intelligent layer comes with an intake. That intake is for an entrepreneur a lot of time.
    5:53
It will take sixty to ninety minutes. But then our intelligent layer is so intelligent, it knows you. It knows who you are as your identity. It distracts your identity from everything. It knows your tone of voice.
    6:12
It knows your ideal customer. And it all saves it in our Identity First Media platform, in our intelligent layer. There are at this moment, as of today, 137 components working together to stay and keep intelligent information about you and to work intelligently with that information. So it's not linear, just a prompt. It's working together to bring a more like almost like a hologram of you, but not a visual one in an identity layer.
    6:56
We say it's an identity engine. So at that moment, knows who you are. And then when you give it some input like a video or some audio, it can create from that one video because it knows you and knows your ideal customer and knows your tone of voice. And it's really a complex organism, but it can create a podcast episode on your own domain. It can create a blog article, social media posts on LinkedIn, Instagram, X if you want to, TikTok, maybe if you upload a video, it creates shorts, three to five shorts from ten minute video.
    7:43
So you can share it with auto shops. It shows it while you are talking like when you see this as a short, it's working the same like this. It creates a email sequence. It can create the YouTube description caption and all helps AI on the other hand, all the AI models to get to know you. Because when you record one video and you enrich it with all your identity stuff, then there's a lot of content coming out of that one video.
    8:25
And that's really rich and structured information for AI models so they can start to find you and point customers to you. So it's really important for you to let AI know you exist as an entrepreneur. You can do it in two ways: Give it a lot of output, create a a lot of content. But if you don't do it in your own identity and in your own tone of voice, it's like shattered information for AI and it doesn't know where to place you. So you will be shattered as well.
    9:03
And you don't you won't be an authority in your entrepreneurial niche. If you're in a niche, it doesn't matter, but it doesn't know you. And that's important because people are already asking AI where they can go to to solve their problems. And if they ask at Google, the first thing is like oversight from Gemini. So it's already AI.
    9:33
So Google will be like newspapers, social media as well, because social media will be old. It will be old because people will start talking to AI much more and AI will connect directly to your domain. But you have to have a really rich domain with your whole identity and your whole business really structured for AI to understand it. So your customer talks to AI and they find your domain immediately, directly without without Google, Facebook or all the social media. So that's one thing you have to fix.
    10:17
And if you don't want to use identity first media, which I recommend to do it with us, of course. But if you don't do it, give it really correct information about your identity, your tone of voice, your ideal customers, and make sure all your output is faster because you need to create a lot more because everybody's creating a lot more, but everybody sounds the same because they don't have the identity engine be needed. They are running on AI stuff and every AI sounds the same. So it's important that when you do it yourself to create a lot of text files into projects in your favorite AI model, maybe Gemini, Perplexity, Hock, Claude, ChatGPT, maybe, I don't know, because they are starting with commercials already. But you have to give it a lot of information about you, then that personal AI gets to know you and then you can use that to spit out a lot of content from your own voice.
    11:24
And if you do that in the same structured way, then AI will get to know you and will point customers to you. So if you don't want to do it yourself, please send me a message. If you want to see your domain scanned, how good AI can read it, go to identityfirstmedia.com/scanner. You can see for yourself how your website is doing and you get a report and from that PDF you can read what you have to do to make your domain better readable by AI.

    Frequently asked questions

Why does AI not know who I am as an entrepreneur?

AI doesn't know you because the information you've shared with it is fragmented and inconsistent. One day you describe yourself one way, the next day another. Without a structured, consistent identity layer, AI has no reliable picture of who you are, what you do, or which clients you serve.

How do potential clients find entrepreneurs through AI?

Clients now ask tools like ChatGPT, Grok, and Gemini directly for service provider recommendations. If AI has rich, structured information about you, it can name you as the solution. If it doesn't, it recommends someone else. This is already happening at scale.

What is the Identity First Media intelligent layer?

It is a system built on 137 components that extracts your identity, tone of voice, and ideal client profile in a 60 to 90 minute intake. From a single video, it produces podcast episodes, blog posts, social content, email sequences, and short clips - all in your authentic voice.

Can I improve my AI visibility without Identity First Media?

Yes. Create detailed, consistent text files about your identity, tone of voice, and ideal client inside your preferred AI tool. Keep the information consistent every time. Volume helps, but consistency is what allows AI to position you as an authority rather than just another name.
