Connect e-Boekhouden to automatically book Stripe payments

Last updated July 9, 2026

Answer

The e-Boekhouden integration automatically creates a proper invoice in your accounting for every successful Stripe payment, complete with the correct VAT. Each payment generates three separate entries: the sales invoice, a receipt on your Stripe clearing account (the cross-post), and the Stripe transaction fee on a separate cost account. This way your bank statement matches your bookkeeping perfectly, because the clearing account shows exactly the amount Stripe will transfer to you.

You set this up under Settings > Connections > e-Boekhouden in your dashboard.

Step 1: Connect your e-Boekhouden account

  1. Log in to e-Boekhouden and go to Beheer > Instellingen > API.
  2. Copy your API token.
  3. In your dashboard, paste the token into the token field and click Koppelen.

Your token is stored encrypted and will never be shown in readable form again, so keep a copy somewhere safe if you need it later.

Step 2: Configure your accounting mapping

Once connected, the system reads your e-Boekhouden administration and fills in most fields automatically:

  • Country and invoice template based on your administration settings
  • Revenue account (typically 8000 Omzet)
  • Cost account for Stripe fees (typically 4550 Bankkosten)
  • VAT codes for every sales situation: 21% for domestic customers, reverse charge for EU businesses with a VAT number, OSS distance selling for EU consumers, and no VAT for customers outside the EU

The one field you need to add yourself: the Stripe clearing account

The Stripe account (cross-post) field is almost always left blank after the automatic setup. Most administrations do not yet have this general ledger account. This field is required before you can save your settings, so here is how to create it:

  1. In e-Boekhouden, go to Beheer > Grootboekrekeningen and add a new account.
  2. Set the category to Financieel.
  3. Give it a recognizable name such as "Stripe tussenrekening".
  4. Return to your dashboard, refresh the dropdown, and select the new account.

This is a one-time step. Once saved, every Stripe payout will match your bank statement automatically.

Sync history and retrying failed bookings

At the bottom of the Boekhoudinstellingen screen you will find a sync history overview. If a booking failed for any reason, you can retry it directly from this list using the retry button next to the entry.

Tips

  • Create the Stripe clearing account in e-Boekhouden before you start the mapping setup, so you can complete and save everything in one go.
  • If you are unsure which account numbers to use, check with your bookkeeper before saving. The defaults the system suggests are a good starting point for most Dutch administrations.
  • Use the sync history regularly after going live to catch any failed bookings early.
