Answer
The text on your checkout button is legally prescribed and differs per website language:
- Dutch: "Bestelling plaatsen" (BW 6:230v)
- English: "Place order"
- German: "Kostenpflichtig bestellen" (BGB 312j)
Why?
The law requires customers to clearly see they are entering a payment obligation. Texts like "Checkout" or "Go to checkout" are insufficient.
What else?
- Pre-checkout text: Above the checkout button there is text about your Terms and Privacy Policy
- Digital content waiver: For paid courses, customers must check a box waiving their right of withdrawal
- Subscriptions: Below the button there is text that the subscription auto-renews
Tips
- These texts are automatic and cannot be customized
- They are part of your legal compliance
