How to Create and Manage Memberships

Last updated March 30, 2026

Answer

Memberships let you offer paid, recurring access to your exclusive content, such as courses, community spaces, and premium materials. You can create multiple membership tiers with different prices and access levels, all managed through Stripe Connect.

Before You Start

Make sure your Stripe account is connected and active. Memberships with an "Active" status sync automatically to Stripe so payments can be processed right away.

Create a Membership Plan

  1. Go to Sales and open the Memberships section.
  2. Click New Membership.
  3. Fill in the details:

- Name: The plan name your members will see (for example, "Pro Member" or "All Access"). - Description: Explain what is included and why it is worth it. - Slug: A URL-friendly identifier, auto-generated from the name.

  1. Choose the Access Type:

- All Access: Members get access to everything included in the membership. - Per Course: Link the membership to one specific course.

  1. Set your pricing:

- Enter a monthly price, a yearly price, or both. - Optionally add a trial period (in days) so new members can try before they commit. - Set a maximum billing cycles limit if you want the membership to end after a fixed number of payments.

  1. Set the Status to Active when you are ready to start accepting members, or keep it as Draft while you are still setting things up.
  2. Click Save. If your Stripe account is connected and the status is Active, the plan syncs to Stripe automatically.

Manage Your Members

Once a membership has subscribers, you can view and manage them directly from the Memberships overview:

  1. Click the expand icon on any membership to see its subscriber list.
  2. For each subscriber you can pause, resume, or cancel their subscription using the action menu.

Offer Multiple Tiers

You can create as many membership plans as you like. This is great for offering a basic tier and a premium tier with different levels of access and pricing.

Tips

  • Use a clear, benefit-focused name and description so visitors immediately understand the value.
  • Offering a yearly price alongside a monthly price is a proven way to increase long-term commitment and reduce churn.
  • A short free trial (7 or 14 days) lowers the barrier to sign up and often leads to higher conversion rates.
  • Keep memberships in Draft status while you are building out the included content, then switch to Active when everything is ready.
