Smart Auto-Scheduling: Automatically publish content at the best times

Last updated April 25, 2026

Answer

Smart Auto-Scheduling takes the guesswork out of when to post. Once you configure your publishing channels, the scheduler automatically distributes your content across the week at the moments your audience is most likely to engage. No more manual planning, just consistent, well-timed publishing.

Set up your publishing channels

  1. Go to Settings > Publishing Channels.
  2. Select the channel you want to configure: blog, podcast, email, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, or Facebook.
  3. Toggle the channel on to activate auto-scheduling for it.
  4. Choose which days of the week the scheduler can publish on that channel.
  5. Add one or more posting times for those days.
  6. Set the maximum number of posts per day and per week to keep your cadence comfortable and consistent.
  7. Click the channel name to expand or collapse its settings panel.

Set your timezone

Before anything goes live, make sure your timezone is correct. You will find the timezone selector at the top of the Publishing Channels page. This ensures every scheduled post goes out at exactly the local time you intend.

Configure format rotation for social channels

For each social media channel you can tell the scheduler which content formats to favour. This is where format rotation comes in.

  1. Open a social channel's settings panel.
  2. You will see sliders or number inputs for each format: video clips, carousels, quote cards, insight cards, text posts, and links.
  3. Assign a weight from 0 to 5 to each format. A weight of 0 means that format is never used. A weight of 5 means it is heavily preferred.
  4. The scheduler uses these weights to automatically rotate formats across your planned posts, keeping your feed varied and on-brand.

Control preemption and pausing

Preemption toggle: When you upload new content, you can choose whether it is allowed to replace an already-scheduled post. Turn the preemption toggle on if you want fresh uploads to take priority. Turn it off to protect your existing schedule.

Pause button: Need to temporarily stop all auto-scheduling across every channel? Hit the pause button. The scheduler freezes until you press play again, so nothing goes out while you are making bigger changes.

Tips

  • Start with one or two channels enabled and expand once you see the rhythm working for you.
  • Posting times that fall slightly off the hour (like 10:13 instead of 10:00) tend to face less competition in social feeds, which can improve early engagement.
  • Review your format weights every month and adjust based on which formats are getting the best results.
  • If you use Buffer as your publishing integration, day and time settings you configure here will sync automatically to your Buffer connection for the same platform.
